Piercing healing depends 80–90% on aftercare, which is a true patience game — so it’s worth paying close attention to it. If you want your piercing to heal quickly and beautifully, there are a few essential rules you should follow.

It’s best to get pierced in a place where an experienced professional works. This greatly increases the chances of a painless procedure and smooth healing. At Everest Tattoo, jewelry is inserted exclusively with needles — never with a gun. You can read more about this here .
Healing time
Healing time can vary from person to person and also depends on the body part.
The Tongue piercing heals the fastest, usually within 3–4 weeks. For aftercare, use Phlogosol oral antiseptic and anti-inflammatory solution. Rinse 4–5 times daily, especially after meals. During the first week, avoid dairy products, spicy and hot foods. Chewing gum is not recommended, and smoking will slow down healing.
Piercings placed in soft tissue (earlobe, lip, eyebrow, medusa, microdermal) typically heal within 3–5 weeks under normal conditions. Cartilage piercings (helix, septum, etc.) have the longest healing time — at least 3 months, but improper care may extend this to 6–9 months.
Cleaning
Always use a solution to clean and treat a fresh piercing. Octenisept or Betadine are excellent choices. When cleaning, it is recommended to use a cotton swab soaked in the solution and carefully clean both sides around the piercing to remove any buildup. This should be repeated at least twice daily (morning and evening) throughout the entire healing period.
A hydrogen peroxide solution from the pharmacy can also be used. Apply it with a cotton swab around the jewelry and wound. It effectively removes debris and helps lift impurities from the skin. After cleaning, apply a thin layer of Betadine or Octenisept.
A few more thoughts
In areas where swelling is expected, a longer piece of jewelry is usually inserted to prevent the piercing from becoming embedded in swollen tissue. After healing, it can be replaced with a shorter piece.
One of the biggest enemies of a healing piercing is external physical irritation. Avoid snagging, pressure, or impact,as these can significantly prolong healing.
Do not touch the piercing with dirty hands. Twisting or moving the jewelry unnecessarily is also not recommended. The minimal movement during cleaning is sufficient.
To prevent infection and inflammation, do not soak a fresh piercing. For at least 2 weeks, avoid saunas, tanning beds, swimming pools, and public bathing areas.
Protect the piercing from cosmetics such as foundation, makeup, and creams, as these can clog the wound and lead to inflammation.
If you feel unwell, it is better to postpone the procedure. A weakened immune system may increase healing time.
Some people may not tolerate surgical steel or precious metals well. In such cases, titanium or plastic jewelry may be a better option.
When can I change my jewelry?
Jewelry should only be changed after complete healing, to minimize potential complications.
